A: Please read the product description carefully. GW Migrator converts Novell GroupWise Address Books (*.NAB) files to Microsoft Outlook format. This format is automatically mapped to fields and easily imported into your Outlook Contacts list.

Q: What versions of Novell Groupwise address books will GW Migrator convert?

A: GW Migrator was extensively tested with version 5.5 and higher 5.X versions. We have had successful reports of GW Migrator working with other versions including 6.X of GroupWise. It is recommended you download a trial and try it on your address book. If it converts 10 address entries (the demo limit) then it should convert all of your entries OK.

Q: What Operating Systems does GW Migrator run on?

A: GW Migrator runs on any 32-bit Windows Operating System, including Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP.

Q: Does GroupWise Client have to be installed on each machine with GW Migrator for it to work?

A: No. GW Migrator runs independently of GroupWise. GroupWise address books are backed up to a NAB file by the user. The NAB file is then imported into GroupWise and converted. This GroupWise NAB file can come from another machine. 

Q: Does the GW Migrator Software connect to Groupwise, or is this a manual process?

The conversion of address books requires user intervention, the user (or a technician or admin) needs to backup the user's address book from Groupwise and import it into GW Migrator. The resulting text file is then imported into Outlook by the user. See previous question.

Q: When I import into Outlook, I have some blank entries. What should I do?

A: You may just delete the blank contact entries. Sometimes during the conversion process, blank lines or commas are interpreted and inserted this way.

Q: Does GW Migrator migrate GroupWise email to Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Outlook?

A: No. Just address book entries from Groupwise into Outlook.

Q: How is licensing purchased and what are the licensing requirements?

A: Each user that will use GW Migrator conversion functions must have a purchased license. If you wish to install the software on many computers or perform a migration, you must have a license for each user. Licensing is sold by individual user licenses, packs of 10 licenses, and by corporate or academic site licensing. 10 licenses would allow 10 users to use GW Migrator for conversion of their email address books. A site license would allow you to install as many copies as you wish at your particular site or location for as many users as you wish at your site. If you have a large base of computers, the site license is the most cost efficient way to purchase. You must have a license for each user whether they have physical access to GW Migrator on their machine (i.e. it is installed on their computer) or virtual access (i.e. through a LAN or they send you their address books for conversion).

Please note that it is illegal and a violation of state, federal, and international copyright laws to use GW Migrator for conversions of more user data than you have licenses for.

Q: Can I install GW Migrator on one computer but convert many address books?

A: Yes, you can. Please note, however, that you must have a license for each user who's data you are converting.
